Max Kepler and the Philadelphia Phillies finalized a $10 million, one-year contract on Friday with the expectation he'll become the team's starting left fielder. Kelpler spent his entire 10-year career with the Minnesota Twins. Over 1,072 games, Kepler is a .237 hitter with 161 home runs and 508 RBIs. Phillies president of basbnall operations Dave Dombrowski said the team will give Kepler a shot at playing every day in left.

The Philadelphia Phillies have yet to make the big move yet this winter. It was known earlier this fall that the Phillies were sniffing around Garrett Crochet, the ex-Chicago White Sox pitcher recently traded to the Boston Red Sox. Perhaps another American League Central pitcher will be more their speed. According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Minnesota Twins, amid an ownership change and the continued loss of television revenue, have fielded trade calls for former All-Star starting pitcher Pablo López, their 2024 Opening Day starter.

The Minnesota Twins are in a high degree of flux. Cost-cutting measures that took place last winter were instrumental in the team's late-season collapse in 2024, and ownership is openly welcoming the prospect of selling the organization. While the Twins front office vowed not to cut payroll again this offseason, the organization is reportedly still listening to offers for several of the team's top talents. Minnesota could find itself sinking to the near-bottom of the American League Central in 2025, with only the woebegone Chicago White Sox there to break their fall.

Is Twins ace Pablo Lopez potentially on the move this offseason? In a look at what's next in MLB's offseason, Passan notes that the "Twins have listened on right-hander Pablo Lopez, and if free agent pitching prices remain stratospheric, perhaps they'll go beyond the listening stage." It's been well documented, amid an ownership sale, the Twins are not looking to add to the payroll, leaving the front office to look for trades to improve the big league squad. Lopez, 28, has gone 26-18 in two years with the Twins, registering 432 strikeouts and a 3.87 ERA in 379.1 innings of work.

One could joke now that the Minnesota Twins owners have purchased a roster off the Major League Baseball value menu, while the likes of the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros are enjoying some fine dining. No, we're not talking about McDonald's. We're talking about the literal value menu that Phoenix Suns majority owner Mat ishbia has made available for fans attending home games.

With Cody Bellinger now in the circle, the New York Yankees will turn to upgrading their corner positions. An intriguing notion could land them a third baseman from a curious place. The Yankees have picked themselves up, dusted themselves off, and started all over again in the wake of losing Juan Soto to the New York Mets. New York's American League entrant traded for closer Devin Williams, signed starter Max Fried, and now traded for Cody Bellinger.

The Kansas City Royals have had a quiet couple of weeks since making their most recent move. India certainly improves the outlook of the lineup, but more needs to be done. Minnesota Twins veteran Max Kepler is a free agent and is ranked among the top remaining ones by The Athletic.

There have been a few missteps in the history of the Minnesota Twins, to be sure. Trading Johan Santana for magic beans, getting rid of the Dome Dog when the team moved to Target Field and the entirety of the Pohlad's reign of ownership terror are just a few off the top of my head. After six seasons with the Twins in which he put up a total of 2.6 WAR in nearly 1,700 plate appearances, the slugger went on to star with the Boston Red Sox for 14 seasons while putting up 52.7 Wins Above Replacement.

The Minnesota Twins have been nearly silent so far this winter but have reportedly entered the sweepstakes for a hoped-for future superstar. Minnesota has not moved the needle at all after its late-season collapse. Most of the headlines surrounding the team have to do with a prospective sale of the franchise. “We have interest,” Nightengale quoted Twins' president of baseball operations Derek Falvey as saying.

Following a 2024 season in which they collapsed down the stretch, the Minnesota Twins are looking to reclaim their spot at the top of the AL Central in 2025. Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey and manager Rocco Baldelli are in the midst of the offseason, trying to make their team a contender once again. Reports broke Friday that Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishiba and his brother Justin are interested in buying the team.

With ownership shopping the team and payroll set at the roughly $130 million they spent last season, the Twins weren’t likely to make any kind of big free-agent splash at this week’s Winter Meetings in Dallas, let alone reel in a fish like outfielder Juan Soto. But Soto’s eye-popping deal he reached Sunday with the New York Mets — $765 million over 15 years — has nonetheless played a role in ...
