Kansas City Royals
The signing is the most notable free agent acquisition by the Pirates, who have been relatively quiet during the offseason.

The life of a veteran journeyman in Major League Baseball can become a blur, as one short-term member of the Kansas City Royals is well aware by now. In 2024, the Royals attempted to retool their lineup on the fly at the waiver wire deadline, just before the final month of the regular season. None of the three panned out particularly well, but the expectations were highest for Pham, who wound up batting leadoff for the Royals in the 2024 postseason.

Pitching has been the main focus of the Kansas City Royals' offseason. While the Royals did sacrifice starting pitcher Brady Singer to trade for second baseman Jonathan India, every other major signing Kansas City has made has been on the mound. It would seem as though the Royals have enough starters to fill out a rotation, with Kris Bubic, Alec Marsh, and potentially Kyle Wright competing for the number-five role.

The Kansas City Royals have done well filling the holes in their pitching staff this offseason. Adding Jonathan India helps, but it isn't enough, and the Royals obviously are not in the mix for Alex Bregman. Adam Wells of Bleacher Report explains that players like Justin Turner and Yoan Moncada haven't seen much traction in their markets.

The Kansas City Royals have tried to find their solution to the offensive woes that are plaguing their outfield, but they haven't had much luck. Whether it's been Anthony Santander, Jurickson Profar, or Teoscar Hernández, the Royals have come up empty thus far in free agency. Could the Royals' last, best hope be a trade with an American League foe?

Coming off a season that saw the Royals win 30 more games than the year before and reach the second round of the American League playoffs has fans excited to see what's next in 2025. Royals fans young and old showed their enthusiasm for the upcoming season at the recent Royals Rally held at Kaufman Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 1. A number of events were scheduled over six hours that fans were able to get close to their favorite players, grab concessions and add to their collection of Royals memorabilia. One of the events was a Royals celebrity read along, up first was Royals general manager JJ Piccolo who read a children's book written by Royals broadcaster Rex Hudler.

The Kansas City Royals won't frequently be mentioned as "winners" of the Major League Baseball offseason, but they've quietly made a series of exciting moves. Re-signing Michael Wacha, trading for Jonathan India, and adding closer Carlos Estévez were all wins for the Royals this winter. What if there's an inexpensive veteran available this winter who could fill any position the Royals needed and brings recent championship experience? Content creator Robbie Hyde believes Kansas City can sign such a player in the form of beloved Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Enrique Hernandez, a postseason standout who can play virtually any position besides catcher.

With Spring Training only a week away, the Kansas City Royals still have time to add to their languishing outfield mix for the 2025 season. Kyle Isbel put up 1.8 bWAR in center field, which was mostly due to defense, while Hunter Renfroe and MJ Melendez combined for -0.8 bWAR as the primary starters in the corners. Tommy Pham, Adam Frazier, Dairon Blanco), but the Isbel-Renfroe-Melendez trio projects as the starting outfield if the Royals don't make any additions.

New Kansas City Royals player Jonathan India made a big revelation this week that he is readying for reps in the outfield this spring. Jonathan India said he talked with the #Royals about mainly playing 2B and 3B and "maybe some left field." The Royals are coming off a season in which they finished second in the American League Central and advanced to the American League Division Series before losing to the New York Yankees. Evidently, India is trying to do more he can to make himself valuable to his new team.

The Kansas City Royals made a big move earlier this week, finally adding some much-needed help to the back end of their bullpen. The team signed right-hander Carlos Estevez to a two-year, $22 million contract on Wednesday. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Royals were in on one of the top free agent sluggers in Anthony Santander before he signed with the Toronto Blue Jays.

After signing All-Star reliever Carlos Estévez earlier this week, the Kansas City Royals can shift their attention to finding one more big bat. Beyond Bobby Witt Jr., who finished second in the Most Valuable Player race last season, Kansas City has very limited thump in their lineup. The outfield, which barely finished with a positive combined WAR last season, is the most obvious spot Kansas City can look to upgrade. Could the Royals take advantage of the Chicago Cubs' overcrowded depth chart to trade for the outfield bat they've been seeking?

The Kansas City Royals made one of their biggest moves of the offseason earlier this week when they signed veteran reliever Carlos Estevez to a two-year, $22 million contract. At long last, they have a late-inning presence to go with Hunter Harvey and Lucas Erceg. Now, all that's left for the Royals to do is to add a bat to their mix. The Royals' offense certainly let them down in the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees, and adding another threat could get them over the hump.

The Kansas City Royals liked what they saw from Michael Lorenzen down the stretch last season, when they went from a 106-loss laughingstock to a surprising playoff team thanks in part to their deadline acquisition from Texas. Lorenzen liked what he saw in Kansas City, too. The Royals and the right-hander finalized their $7 million, one-year deal Wednesday, putting him squarely in the mix for a spot in the starting rotation.
