The Arizona Diamondbacks have had a chaotic season but not in the ways they prided themselves on last year. Corbin Carroll's stalled early-season performance has contributed to the variance (probably not the bees part), and his five RBIs Tuesday at the Cincinnati Reds were an auspicious sign looking forward. There is a certain gear Carroll adds to the offense when humming. It's sort of been reduced now to Jake (McCarthy) and Corbin in a lot of ways that have a lot of that in their game … Our offense has been inconsistent through the first month and has put us in challenging situations and we need to get that straightened out.

The Arizona Diamondbacks handed out their monthly organizational awards, naming Double-A Amarillo first baseman Deyvison De Los Santos their Minor League Player of the Month for April. High-A Hillsboro's Billy Corcoran won pitcher of the month. De Los Santos has been on an offensive rampage since returning to the organization from the Cleveland Guardians, who selected the 20-year-old in the Rule 5 Draft but did not keep him on the roster. Arizona's No. 14 prospect ( MLB Pipeline ) earned a 1.112 OPS with seven home runs, 18 RBIs and 18 runs scored in April with the Sod Poodles. He reached base safely in 20 of 21 games. Luis Arraez had four hits and an RBI in his first game after being traded from Miami, Ha-Seong Kim hit a three-run homer in San Diego's eight-run seventh inning and the Padres routed the listless Arizona Diamondbacks 13-1 on Saturday. The Padres made a massive deal before the game, acquiring Arraez from the Marlins along with nearly $7.9 million in a trade for four players. “Clearly an amazing approach and I can see why he is the rightful moniker of ‘The Sprinkler,’" Padres manager Micke Shildt said.
