The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Miami Marlins in a 3-1 victory on the shoulders of a strong performance from Gavin Stone and a one-man army on offense with Teoscar Hernández driving in all the runs. Stone started the day retiring eight straight Marlins, allowing the first base runner with two outs in the third inning. On Wednesday, Stone completed seven innings, allowing the lone run and tallying four strikeouts. Hernández opened up the scoring in the third inning, driving in Freddie Freeman, who singled, advanced to 2nd on a balk, and moved to third on a wild pitch.

Ippei Mizuhara, the former interpreter for Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, has reportedly agreed to plead guilty to federal charges in relation to gambling scandal that led to his firing, ESPN's Paula Lavigne reported on Wednesday (May 8). Mizuhara, 39, who had previously served as Ohtani's interpreter since arriving in the United States in 2018, is reportedly expected "to enter his guilty plea in the coming weeks" and scheduled to appear in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California next Tuesday (May 14), however, a sentencing date hasn't yet been scheduled, according to Lavigne. Mizuhara was fired by the Dodgers amid accusations that he stole "money from my account and has told lies," Ohtani said while initially addressing the incident and denying his own involvement in March.

Shohei Ohtani launched his fourth home run in three games and the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Miami Marlins 6-3 on Monday night in Walker Buehler's first major league start in nearly two years. Ohtani became the first big leaguer to reach 11 homers this season when he crushed an elevated fastball from Roddery Muñoz (1-1) and sent it 441 feet into the center-field netting for a two-run shot in the first inning that tied the score 2-all. It is the eighth time in Ohtani's career he has homered in three straight games, and the fourth time he's hit four in a three-game span.
