Tampa Bay pitcher Ryan Pepiot was in a lot of pain last Sunday when he was drilled in the leg with a line drive by New York Mets slugger Starling Marte. The shot to the left leg, which knocked him out of the game in the third inning, is still bothering him enough that the Rays put him on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to May 6. The Rays are calling it a lower leg contusion.

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rays have reached an anniversary, of sorts. Or a grim reminder, if you prefer. With their victory against the White Sox on Monday night, the Rays evened their record at 18-18. Maybe nothing to celebrate, but something of an accomplishment considering they had been outscored by 32 runs and lead the league in surgical scars. And, in case you needed reminding, the Rays were ...

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Chicago White Sox needed length from starter Michael Soroka. A night after command issues led to an early exit for Mike Clevinger, it looked like Soroka was headed toward a similar fate. But the right-hander found a way to fight through five innings in a 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in front of 10,872 on Tuesday at Tropicana Field. Soroka allowed four runs (three ...

ST. PETERSBURG — Jonny DeLuca hits a line drive over the leftfield wall, and Jose Siri sees his career flash before his eyes. Or, at least he should. With DeLuca’s arrival, Siri’s status in the Tampa Bay lineup seems like it might be open to debate. And the ever-growing number of Siri critics on social media are salivating at the thought of a permanent replacement for their mercurial ...

The Tampa Bay Rays reinstated outfielder Josh Lowe from the 10-day injured list before Monday night's game with the Chicago White Sox. Lowe has been out since opening day due to a right oblique strain that occurred during spring training, and experienced right hamstring tightness in late April just before he was expected to rejoin the team. Lowe hit .292 with 20 homers, 83 RBIs and stole 32 bases last season.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Pinch hitter Austin Shenton’s bases-loaded walk scored a tiebreaking run in the eighth inning and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Mets 3-1 on Saturday night. ST. PETERSBURG — The beer, or possibly champagne, dripped off Kevin Cash’s shoes as he talked. The Rays manager had shaving cream in his ear and baby powder slapped on the back of his wet jersey. Cash also had a tired smile on his face. With the Rays beating the Mets 3-1 on Saturday night, Cash won his 755th game as Tampa Bay’s manager, surpassing Joe Maddon as the franchise’s victories ...
