A Preview Of The 2017 MLB Season

The 2017 Major League Baseball season will begin with the opening games scheduled for three days. The start of MLB season is always exciting as the teams had been preparing for the season targeting the win for the first three matches. The season will kick off on the first Sunday (2nd) of April 2017. After the first matches, the following day, there will be held 12 games and on Tuesday the last 8. There are a few things to keep an eye on during the season – among others the brand-new ballpark in Atlanta and the first MLB All-Star Week in Florida taking place in July.

The schedules for the regular matches were posted in September 2016 with two divisional matchups as starting games. Giants vs. D-backs and Yankees vs. Rays will be the openers of 2017 MLB season at 1:10 PM and 4:10 PM respectively. ESPN will televise these 2 games, besides the traditional annual “Sunday Night Baseball” covering the review of matches and beginning the 28th season with the “Opening Night – the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs visit their rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals”, on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 8:30 PM ET.

The 12 games played on the 3rd of April 2017 will feature a total of nine divisional matchups, marking a great opening of the 2017 MLB season. Red Sox will be playing against Pirates in an interleague match between teams that face each other since the inaugural World Series in 1903. The same day Cincinnati Reds will move to Philadelphia to meet the Phillies. The match is expected to start at 4.10 PM at the Great American Ball Park.

The MLB season has significant events when games are played. These include the Jackie Robinson Day, which will be on Saturday, the 15th of April, and the scheduled match will mark the 70th anniversary of Robinson’s breaking the color barrier and the 20th anniversary of MLB retiring his No. 42 from Majors. Other important days of the 2017 MLB season are the 12th of June, the first day of the 2017 MLB Draft, and the 11th of July at Marlins Park in Miami where MasterCard will present the 88th All-Star game.

During the last day of the 2017 MLB season, the 1st of October 2017, there will be featured 12 divisional games. Evidently, this season is bound to be more entertaining than the season that was, given the rumors and what’s at stake.
